Kettler Coach M Rowing Machine Review
Kettler Coach M is a medium sized rowing machine that has been designed to be durable and affordable. It has been made in Germany and has passed strict certification.
If it is not enough for you to realize how well made this machine is, manufacturer provides you with 3 year part and labour warranty. One of the longest warranties out there in the rowing machine market!
Coach M has been made in Germany from a good quality steel. This machine looks good thanks to chrome plated steel as well as monitor placement right under handle. This machine will definitely fit in well and look good in your home gym.
Be careful when you receive this rowing machine, as it’s box weight is 48 kg and you should ask a member of family or a friend to help you move it. This machine comes with step-by-step assembly instructions and it is very easy to assemble it by yourself. Typically it takes around 45 minutes to assemble it.
Kettler Coach M features 10 different resistance levels powered by magnetic breaking system. Amazing pick for beginners and intermediate rowers. Thanks to magnets, the machine is very silent in operating and allows for a very smooth rowing stroke. To change resistance level, use rotate a knob that is located under the LCD display monitor.
This rowing machine has ergonomically designed pivoting footplates that will support your foot and save you from injuries, also it is worth to mention that they are very comfortable. Rower seat glides very smoothly and also has special padding that will ensure your comfort during long rowing sessions.
As a bonus, this machine can sit upright and you can get additional easy attachable plates for the front and back of the machine. This turns it into a mini gym, allowing you to do more exercises for arms and back.
Coach M comes with an LCD tracking monitor that will show you all vital stats needed during your workout session. The screen stats are easy to read and data is quite accurate. Unfortunately this LCD screen is not back lit which means that if you planning to train in a badly lit room you might have some issue reading some stats.
LCD tracking monitor will show you following stats:
- Time elapsed
- Total distance rowed
- Strokes per minute
- Calories burnt
- Room temperature
- Heart rate
After you have finished your workout, you can store Kettler Coach M vertically in your storage room. For ease of moving the machine around it has got attached wheels at the front. Unfortunately this machine doesn’t fold, but it is compact and light enough to be stored with convenience.
This machine can accommodate users of up to 130 kg weight. Also, it is big enough for users who are up to 6 ft 3 height. Definitely a good pick for someone who is willing to improve their cardio as well as work plenty of body muscles.
Let’s talk about downsides now. We have mentioned before that screen is not back lit, which can be an issue for some people but it is quite a minor flow. There is a bit bigger downside with this machine – it has to be always plugged in to socket in order for resistance to work and screen to function.
Another downside was that in order to use the heart rate function you need to have an additional heart rate transmitter. This is a bit of a joke for a machine that cost very close to professional rowers such as Concept Model D.
- Long warranty period
- Magnetic resistance
- Quiet and smooth rowing
- Comfortable seat and foot plates
- Screen is not back lit
- Transmitter is not included
- Needs to be plugged in to power socket
What customers say about Kettler Coach M
This machine is a great example of German engineering. It is made with good quality materials, very smooth to row as well as it literally makes barely any noise even when rowing on harder tension levels.
Coach M is not the best rower out there, but it sure does deliver good quality workout that can be compared to more expensive and professional models. Although LCD screen could have been a bit more advanced.
Being quite fit and athletic, I have found this machine lacking resistance and is not much of a challenge to me. The beauty of this machine is it is so quiet you can watch Netflix or work out without waking up the whole house.
This is an amazing leg and upper body workout. It glides very, very smoothly and it is very sturdy construction. I have no problem storing this machine as it sits upright easily and transport wheels are useful when you move machine around.
Overall, Kettler Coach M looks like an affordable and durable machine. But is it really that good value for money? There are rowing machines that have same functionality, are as much durable but cost couple of hundred pounds less.
But, it is very sturdy, good quality, very quiet as well as it can turn into a mini gym. Good pick for someone who has no time to go to the fitness centre and would like to get quality workout at the comfort of their home.
