Hammer Cobra XTR Rowing Machine Review
Cobra XTR rowing machine is an amazing fitness equipment that will help you tone your body, get stronger back and arms, it will help your mobility and will strengthen joints as well. Also rowing is the best aid for people who are trying to loose some weight.
Hammer Cobra XTR is an incredibly solid and sturdy machine. It is certified up to German quality standards which are very strict and tough to pass. The machine is made with powder coated steel and has an aluminium frame. These materials are known for their longevity.
This machine weighs 38 kg which is a bit more than typical rowing machines. It will arrive boxed and will weigh 44 kg. In the box you will find all the required parts to assemble this machine on your own. Clear step by step instructions will be included. Typically it takes around 45 minutes to assemble this rowing machine.
XTR offers 10 different resistance levels that come from magnetic flywheel. Advantage of having a magnetic rowing machine is that they are quite and provide very smooth rowing experience. You can choose from very easy to very hard level, this machine provides A LOT of tension at level 10. It is perfect for total body workout and will suit users from novice to advanced. To change resistance levels you have to use the display unit.
This rower footplates can pivot for extra comfort as well as they have special anti-slip surface. The seat has anti-slip surface but it’s design is a bit questionable – it is not contoured which may bring a bit more discomfort during rowing.
The machine comes with the LCD tracking display out of the box. The display will show you following workout stats:
- Calories Burnt
If you want to know your pulse during your workout, you need to buy a radio pulse sensor. It is a shame that a rower that cost this much can’t throw in an additional cheap gadget. A radio pulse transmitter will cost you an extra £30
But on the upside side of things, this computer console has 10 pre-programmed exercises that will help you achieve your goals and will challenge you.
After you finish your workout you can fold this machine in order to save space. There are transport wheels attached to the front of the rower that will make it easy to move it around.
This machine will accommodate quite heavy users – up to 120 kg or 19 stones. Also XTR is long enough to accommodate users who are up to 6ft 5.
Another downside is that this machine requires energy to operate normally. Make sure you put this machine not far away from sockets.
- Quiet and smooth rowing
- Plenty of resistance levels
- Solid built and good quality materials
- LCD tracking screen is good
- It can fold in half to save space
- Pulse strap is optional
- Heavier than other machines
- Requires constant energy supply
What customers say about Hammer Cobra XTR
Very solid machine with good resistance. Level 1 on this feels more than level 10 on a professional rower like Concept 2. Very smooth rowing stroke. After rowing I fold this machine up and put in my storage room. Very convenient
The machine was easy to assemble and took me about an hour to do it by myself. It feels very sturdy and is very silent! The only downsides to me are the display – there could be more stats shown, also I got disappointed when I had to buy a pulse strap as an extra
The machine arrived quickly and it was very easy to put it together. One of the first things I noticed is the design. It looks very futuristic. The second thing you notice is that the resistance is very tough on this one. Very good full body workout
Me and my wife both using this rowing machine. It is very comfortable. Everything is OK with it except that display is not lit, so whenever it is dark in the room it gets hard to see what’s going on there.
In general, this is a good mid-range rowing machine that has plenty of resistance and it will challenge everyone from novice to advanced user.
There are some minor downsides, it is not perfect, but it is very close to the professional gym quality rowing machines. Keep in mind it has passed all German safety and quality standards, this machine is designed and built to last for long period of time.
